REMINDER

"The Pirates of Penzance"

AUDITIONS

Just a reminder for those who might have missed the Introductory Meeting and who would like to audition for BLOC's upcoming production of The Pirates of Penzance that the deadline for submitting auditions for Principal rôles is Tuesday, 23rd February (midnight) and for Chorus, Tuesday, 2nd March (midnight).

All the information on how to register and submit your audition is contained in the Auditions Information Pack, which can be requested by simply sending an e-mail to blocpirates2021@gmail.com

The Pirates of Penzance is one of the most popular of the Gilbert & Sullivan comic operas.  It is a tale of tender-hearted pirates, feisty females, bumbling British policemen, true love ... and lots of silliness!  The music is full of catchy tunes, uplifting choruses and heart-warming melodies - which we could all do with at the moment...

The Pirates of Penzance is opera at its most comical and, COVID restrictions permitting, BLOC will be performing it at the De Bosuil Cultural Centre, Overijse, from 3rd to 6th June, and at The Royal Hall, Harrogate (UK) on Thursday, 12th August as part of the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival.  We are, of course, very much aware that we may have to adjust the performance dates to comply with the latest health and safety developments in Belgium, but you can secure your place in the show by auditioning now.

It is possible that, throughout the preparation period for this show, BLOC's health and safety policies will be even stricter than those proposed by governments, but your well-being is our main concern, and we will be putting in place all the precautionary measures that we feel are appropriate.  Music-learning rehearsals will start via Zoom meetings, and physical rehearsals will only take place when it is safe to do so.
