December letter from the Chair

BLOC's now taking a break for Christmas and New Year. On behalf of my fellow Committee members - Dennis Alex Tonia Meera Marie Emanuelle - we would like to take this opportunity to wish all BLOC members and their families the compliments of the season and to wish you all safe journeys wherever they may take you til we meet again in January.

Chairman's Letter - November 2017

Dear Blocnotes Reader!

The leaves are beginning to fall from the trees, the evenings are drawing in, clocks have changed and we’re just 10 days off the first night of Crazy for You.  Watching the dance routines and hearing the BLOC voices in full volume is marvellous – by the end of November we’ll either be completely knackered or there will be a new vitality of a fitter, lighter BLOC.  Hopefully the latter!

The BLOC Christmas Party 2017

Twas the twelfth of December, when people from BLOC
Decided to party, De Kam was the spot,
The spotlights were hung by the stage front with care,
In hopes that someone who sang soon would be there.

The guests all arrived with great platters of food;
And hot mulled wine helped us to get in the mood,
We queued and we queued yet the food didn't stop
Soon all sat and chatted; ate, drank and what not.

Successful information evening for Urinetown

On the 5th of December, BLOC held a very well attended information evening for the company's next production: Urinetown!

The production team was introduced, including Stage Director - Emanuelle Vergier, Music Director - Steven De Mesmaeker, Producer - Meera Laurijssen and Assistant Producer - Alexander Just. During the evening Giselle Maksoud - a previous Stage Manager for BLOC productions - volunteered to join the team, and so the production team is now in great form!

Meera ran through some practical details for all.

For those of you who had not seen it – here are the butties won by BLOC for the 2016-2017 season
